Douro 2021 harvest field work, 2nd act, at Quinta do Vallado

At the beginning of the 3rd week of September (just before a few more days of rain in the midle of harvest season), from the top of the "vinha da Granja" (222m altitude) at quinta do Vallado, a parcel of old vineyard about 92 years old, on this date with the harvest just starting.

In the new and modern quinta do Vallado winecellar, the traditional winemaking techniques with foot treading in medium-sized granite lagares (mainly used for superior Port wine categories), coexist with the most modern technologies, such as carbonic maceration.

Douro 2021 harvest field work, at Quinta do Noval

Rain appeared in all the Douro region on 7th September. Waiting for weather conditions to improve, it will take a few days to restart harvest works on the "Renova" vineyard at Quinta do Noval in the Pinhão river valley.

In the meantime, the vinification works continue as usual at the quinta old lagares house, exclusively for Port wines (here, the must fermenting in the lagar 5).
